Learn how to:

• Thread up a sewing machine
• Sew straight lines, corners and curves
• Measure and cut out fabric
• Use essential Sewing Toolkit
• Understand basic safety around the sewing room

Book  2h Individual Sewing Tuition

Once you have mastered how to use the sewing machine, you can then join follow-on workshops, including:

• How to make a simple, practical item
• Add lining
• Insert a zip
• Add trimmings to personalise items
• Try a range of hand and machine stitches

Bring your own sewing machine or borrow one for £3 / session
A small range of materials and haberdashery, threads and trimmings also available to purchase in the studio

Sewing is a great skill for young people to learn, as it assists in developing good hand to eye co-ordination, manual dexterity and stimulates the creative imagination.

Your child will learn in a small, friendly group with expert tuition and guidance.
Young people will

• gain confidence using a sewing machine safely
• gain satisfaction from creating items to take home and enjoy
• make simple, practical items
• increase skills and creative sewing techniques as they go along

Options for classes include:

• 1:1 or small group / weekly
  
• twice a month
• half-day workshop during school holidays
  
• Individual classes to further textiles education
